Week 38: The Christmas Countdown Became a Product
Week 38 toy sourcing: advent calendars open the season on Amazon, a $10 squishy set tops TikTok Shop estimates, and China-side Christmas searches go full-window.
Every week, Product Map China tracks the same toy-market signals for buyers who source from China: Amazon US Best Sellers and New Releases, estimated Top 20s for Temu US and TikTok Shop US, China-side supply activity, and US search interest. This is the seventh issue — the Week 37 report is here.
The Christmas season has a clearer shape this week: the countdown itself became the product — and it is no longer only a licensed novelty.
LEGO launched its three 2026 advent calendars into three of the top six spots on Amazon's New Releases, and the City calendar was visible on the Best Sellers chart in the same week. The versions with no license attached deserve just as much attention. On TikTok Shop, a 24-day calendar with a mini squishy behind each door moved from No. 19 to No. 8 in the estimated-sales Top 20 within a week, nearing 10,000 estimated monthly sales. And Temu showed its first holiday products in this series — mini Christmas building-block figures at $1.81. Small observations, not a forecast; together they show the format traveling beyond a character license.

The appeal is simple: twenty-four doors, one small toy a day through December — a month of unboxing, at a price that reads as a gift rather than a toy. The trade-off is just as clear — dated packaging means a short selling window, and a fast markdown once the date passes.
One Product Has Been Climbing All Month
The strongest single-product movement this week was a Halloween dumpling squishy set — grimace pumpkins and little devils packed in steamer boxes, as the listing puts it. It hasn't left the top three of TikTok Shop's estimated-sales Top 20 in three weeks — this week it sits at No. 1, with estimated monthly sales up from about 29,000 to about 37,000 over the same stretch.

Behind it sits a longer-running pattern: squishy stress toys have held about a quarter of the US retail positions since mid-August. What has changed is the mix — plain forms like the cheese cube, sitting mid-table with no season attached, now share the charts with seasonal versions like this one.

On the Supply Side
Sourcing searches for "Christmas" were visible in every time window we track this week — the first time in this series. Sourcing attention around the category is active.
What This Means for Timing
This is the last stretch for Christmas restocking. Countdown products need to be on shelves well before December, and production plus ocean freight no longer fit the calendar — so anyone still short on December stock is looking at ready goods or air freight, weighed against their own markdown risk. Halloween sits further along the same clock.
Worth a Glance
- Magic Jellykins is in its fifth week on Amazon's New Releases, fading, and absent from TikTok Shop this week.
- Kids' musical instruments — a harmonica, a steel tongue drum — held TikTok Shop for a second week.
- LEGO's jack-o'-lantern pickup truck keeps climbing the new-release chart; Halloween decor-toys are holding shelf space too.

Week 39 will show whether the calendars stay visible after launch week — and whether the dumpling holds No. 1.
This snapshot draws on Amazon US rankings, third-party estimated-sales Top 20s for Temu US and TikTok Shop US, China-side supply activity, and US search interest. Each source measures something different; we compare them side by side and never merge them into one score. Full methodology: How we track the weekly snapshot.
