Week 41: TikTok's Purge Loosens but Froze Its Own No. 1; Christmas Takes the New Releases
Week 41 toy sourcing: TikTok restored ten delisted listings through appeals; its No. 1 squishy was delisted with sales frozen, and no live listing outsold it; holiday items took six of Amazon's first eight new releases.
Every week, Product Map China tracks the same toy-market signals for buyers who source from China: Amazon US Best Sellers and New Releases, estimated Top 20s for Temu US and TikTok Shop US, China-side supply activity, and US search interest. This is the tenth issue; the Week 40 report is here.
In late September, TikTok Shop removed 87 toy listings from its US best-seller chart — most of them stress-relief toys. Three things happened at once this week. Ten of those listings are back up, and TikTok turns out to have a formal appeals process. A second round of removals took down the chart's own No. 1, a Christmas squishy calendar, with its sales figure frozen where it stopped. And on Amazon, holiday items took over the new-release chart, with a NeeDoh squishy advent calendar selling out on entry.
TL;DR
- Ten of the TikTok listings removed in September are back up — the platform has a formal appeals process.
- TikTok's No. 1 squishy calendar was removed this week; even frozen, its sales figure still tops every live listing on the chart.
- Holiday items took over most of Amazon's new-release chart; NeeDoh's squishy advent calendar sold out on entry.
- Next ordering window: Valentine's small gifts, through early November.
What Moved on the Charts
| Chart | What moved | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Best Sellers | Squishies hold 4 of the top 12 (Slimygloop Gelli Gels at No. 1, $8.82); party balloons hold two top-4 slots; LEGO's Halloween truck at No. 8 | platform data |
| Amazon New Releases | Holiday items take 6 of the first 8: three LEGO advent calendars ($25–$35), the Halloween truck (dual-listed at No. 8), NeeDoh's squishy advent calendar in at No. 8 ($29.99), sold out | platform data |
| TikTok Shop Top 20 | Ten delisted listings returned, JOYIN among them (3 of the top 12); the No. 1 position now belongs to a removed listing (see below); a Halloween dumpling squishy tops the live chart at ~28,000 units/month | third-party e-commerce data |
| Temu Top 20 | A $1.57 watermelon squishy moves ~53,000 units/month, the biggest number on any chart this week; a Christmas bun-shaped party set (24 pcs) is new at No. 9 | third-party e-commerce data |
Ten Listings Came Back
About half the empty positions on TikTok Shop's toy chart closed this week. Ten of the listings taken down in the September sweep are back, titles and images restored. JOYIN, a party-toy brand rather than a gray-market seller, is among them, and it now holds three of the chart's top twelve spots.
The appeals route is public policy: a first appeal within 30 days of the notice, a second within 15 if the first fails, two tries maximum, and a successful appeal restores the listing. One change from July makes removals cost more even when they are reversed — violation records now stay on a seller's performance score for 60 days instead of 30.
For buyers running TikTok Shop stores: if a listing comes down, appeal it with paperwork in hand rather than relisting it. Seller forums consistently report that a straight relist draws a second strike.
Even Removed, the No. 1 Outsold Everything Alive
The second round of removals reached the top of the chart. The Christmas squishy calendar that took four weeks to climb to No. 1 was taken down this week; its product page is wiped and its sales estimate is frozen where it stopped, at roughly 28,000 units a month. A JOYIN Christmas dumpling that sat at No. 4 went the same way.
Here is what that says about the category. The best live listing on the chart — the Halloween dumpling squishy at No. 1 among active products — moves about the same volume, and did not get past the frozen number. The strongest product this category has produced in two months was removed mid-run, and nothing alive overtook it. Meanwhile the new removals again concentrated on slime and squishy toys, at roughly eleven times their share of the live chart. This is the second sweep aimed at the same category in two weeks, and both times the shelf refilled with new supply.
Why this listing was removed while others came back, the platform does not say, and our data cannot see inside that process. What a buyer can act on is the asymmetry: at this level of demand, a compliance problem costs a top-of-chart position, not a long-tail listing. For slime and squishy products, test reports — VOC, benzene, DMF, batch traceability — are table stakes. Every seller still standing in this category has them.

NeeDoh Turned Stress Relief Into a Calendar
The demand side showed up on Amazon's new releases. Schylling's NeeDoh Squishmas Advent Calendar (24 doors, 24 mini squeeze toys, $29.99) entered at No. 8 and sold out; Good Housekeeping reports both of Schylling's 2026 countdown calendars (Christmas and Halloween) are selling out across retailers. A month ago NBC News was asking whether NeeDoh is the next Labubu; this month the brand shipped its own holiday version. Licensed and unlicensed products are selling the same idea side by side — an unbranded squishy advent calendar holds No. 9 on TikTok Shop.
For a buyer, the form works at both price tiers. At either tier, the testing paperwork is what decides whether a listing survives a sweep.

The Supply Side
The top of the squishy category did not budge this week, but the shelf around it narrowed on every platform we track: squishy listings eased back on all three retail charts, and the main China supply panel cut the category to a single display slot after weeks of steady presence. The demand is still there — the top listings all held their positions — but both the retail shelf and the factory side gave the category less room this week. Next week will show whether factories are easing off the category or the panel simply rotated. Dreidel kits appeared on both China-side panels for a second straight week.
Worth a Glance
- Squishy toys held a Top-25 US toy search term for a second straight week.
- Toys R Us store-level searches topped the rising list again, as the chain keeps reopening US stores — a search-level signal only.
- LEGO's $4.89 police motorcycle entered Amazon's Best Sellers at No. 12: a sub-$5 licensed entry point is moving.
- Temu's entire top 10 sits between $1 and $4, and that did not change.
Methodology and data coverage: 145 records this week — 80 chart positions across Amazon, Temu and TikTok Shop (Amazon 40, Temu 20, TikTok Shop 20), 16 verified China-side supply matches, 19 supply-side product observations and 30 sourcing keywords — with full notes on the standing methodology page. Temu and TikTok Shop sales figures are third-party e-commerce estimates, not platform-reported sales. TikTok Shop's Top 20 counts positions among listings still live; removed listings are noted where they appear.
