What’s Holding—and What’s Emerging: Week 33 Toy Sourcing Signals
See what changed across Amazon, Temu, TikTok Shop and China-side sourcing activity, with buyer takeaways for squishy, magnetic, learning and water toys.
Squishy toys held their ground in Week 33—but not everywhere. They occupied 9 of the 40 Amazon ranking positions we reviewed and 11 of the estimated Temu Top 20, up from 8 and 5 a week earlier. The estimated TikTok Shop Top 20, however, stayed almost unchanged, with just one squishy product in both weeks.
That difference matters. Squishies are holding strongly in some retail channels, not rising everywhere at once. Magnetic toys told a different story: they appeared in retail listings, verified China-side supply matches, sourcing data and US searches. Learning and classroom products added another signal shaped by platform and seasonal context.
Week 33 in Brief
- Squishy toys moved from 8 to 9 Amazon ranking positions and from 5 to 11 positions in the estimated Temu Top 20. The TikTok Shop sample remained at 1.
- Magnetic toys appeared in retail listings, verified China-side supply matches, sourcing activity and US searches.
- Learning and classroom products were visible on Amazon and TikTok Shop, while water toys remained tied to the late-summer selling window.
Squishy Toys Held Their Position
Squishy and squeeze-based sensory toys remained the clearest product family shared by the retail samples we reviewed.
| Retail sample | Week 32 | Week 33 |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon US | 8 | 9 |
| Estimated Temu Top 20 | 5 | 11 |
| Estimated TikTok Shop Top 20 | 1 | 1 |
The Temu result changed the most. More than half of the reviewed Top 20 consisted of squishy or squeeze-based products. The designs included butter, cheese, buns, dumplings, apples, ice-cube forms, animals and sensory balls.
The shapes were different, but the basic play experience was similar: squeeze the toy, watch it change shape and feel it return or hold its new form. This suggests that the tactile experience matters more than any single food or animal design.
Squishy forms observed this week

We also found two related products in the China-side sourcing sample. In the US, search interest for squishies remained visible over the past three months. Retail listings were therefore not the only place where the category continued to appear.
For buyers, the next step is to compare samples rather than count more listings. Products that look almost identical online can differ sharply in material feel, rebound consistency, odor, leakage, surface durability, packaging and safety documentation. Squishies are visible enough to justify deeper product work; the practical question is which versions offer better quality and a clearer reason to choose them.
Magnetic Toys Appeared in More Places
Magnetic toys did not fill a large share of any one retail ranking. Instead, they appeared in several places that buyers use to check a category.
The estimated Temu Top 20 included one magnetic building set. Two China-side supply matches passed our title-and-image check, and two magnetic products appeared in the sourcing-side product sample. The Chinese term for magnetic tiles also appeared in the 3-day, 7-day and 15-day sourcing keyword lists.
US search interest for magnetic tiles remained visible over the past three months as well. Together, these records show the category appearing in retail, China-side sourcing and search data during the same week.
A magnetic fraction book and a racing-themed building kit should not sit in the same sourcing comparison simply because both contain magnets. This week's products also included an open-ended building set. Before requesting samples, buyers should separate construction toys from learning tools, preschool sets from products with smaller components, and compact travel sets from larger boxes. Magnet retention, age grading, small-parts risks, construction quality and packaging size all need closer checks.

Seasonal and Platform Context Changed the Product Mix
Amazon's 40 positions included six art and activity products, along with children's scissors and party balloons. The US back-to-school period offers a straightforward reason for classroom and craft products to be more visible now. Their presence makes this more than a three-category story: seasonal learning and activity products formed a clear part of the week's retail mix.
TikTok Shop showed another side of the learning category. Its estimated Top 20 included four clearly learning-focused products—a word-card reader, a sorting activity, a learning tablet and a busy book—plus an educational tabletop game. This gives buyers a practical group to compare across format, age range, language requirements and demonstration value in short-form video.

Water play followed a different calendar. One water gun appeared in the estimated Temu Top 20. The term water gun appeared in all three China-side keyword lists, and US search interest remained visible over the past three months. The category was active, but an August sourcing decision still depends on production time, shipping and the number of warm-weather selling weeks left.
Pretend-Play Sets Appeared on the Sourcing Side
Five pretend-play sets appeared in the verified China-side supply matches, creating a sourcing cluster around salons, veterinary play, household role play and activity sets. For buyers, this is an early supplier-research signal that still needs stronger retail support.

Week 33 at a Glance
| Product direction | What appeared | What buyers can do with the signal |
|---|---|---|
| Squishy sensory toys | Strong on Amazon and especially Temu; also present in China-side sourcing and US searches | Compare sample quality, tactile feel, durability, packaging and design crowding |
| Magnetic play | Present in Temu, verified supply matches, China-side product and keyword data, and US searches | Separate product types, then check age group, magnet safety, piece count and packaging volume |
| Learning and classroom products | Art and activity products on Amazon; four learning products plus an educational tabletop game in the TikTok Shop sample | Compare seasonality, language needs, demonstration value and age-specific learning purpose |
| Water play | Present in Temu, all three China-side keyword lists and US searches | Check production time, shipping schedule and the remaining seasonal selling window |
How Buyers Can Use This Week’s Signals
The categories call for different actions now:
- Squishies: move from category discovery to sample testing and differentiation.
- Magnetic toys: divide the broad family into construction, themed and learning products before comparing suppliers.
- Learning and classroom products: separate back-to-school demand from products with year-round play or demonstration value.
- Water play: judge the opportunity against production, shipping and the remaining selling window.
- Pretend play: use the China-side matches to begin supplier and specification research, then look for stronger retail confirmation.
This is the practical value of comparing several channels. Buyers do not need every platform to agree. They need to know whether a signal calls for a sample, a supplier conversation, a timing decision or another round of observation.
Methodology Note
This Week 33 snapshot reviewed 147 ranking, product, supply-match and keyword observations. Amazon was represented by its Best Sellers and New Releases rankings. Temu US and TikTok Shop US were represented by estimated monthly sales rankings. China-side inputs included product activity, verified supply matches and keyword lists. Google Trends provided US search-interest context over the previous three months. Each source reflects a different part of the product and sourcing landscape, so the article compares where product families appeared and how those signals can be used.
